They too have their dreams......
I happened to have the privilege of sitting on the veranda of a Goverment primary school while I was waiting for my daughter who would join me there.
Month of June- time for admissions. I could see a parent or two stepping in to the office room probably seeking for admission for their children.
What was shocking to me was that these children were in fact looking so mature, and sensible which was unbecoming for their small age.
Of course I could see the excitement and eagerness to join the school in them which truly I have never seen otherwise. The
excitement of joining a new school though they were deprived of money, house, books and good clothes. Of course Government schools came to their rescue. Free education, books and food helped these tiny-tots to add colour to their childhood even though they had to go for work in the evenings before they could crawl into their small sheds for a goodnight's sleep. A striking contrast to the fret and anguish of the parents and their pampered children of the higher social class.
I could see a super-hero in the child when I heard him giving the assurance to his illiterate and poor father; "Abbajan it's okay you put me here. I will manage."
